Radial Shockwave Therapy
(Swiss Dolorclast)
Radial Shockwave Therapy (RST) is an excellent alternative for people with chronic pain who have exhausted all other treatment avenues. RST has been scientifically proven to help relieve chronic pain associated with heel spurs, plantar fasciopathy, tennis/golfer's elbow, achilles tendonitis, shoulder calcification, frozen shoulder and many other conditions that cause chronic pain.
RST is the application of a high-energy acoustic pulse transmitted into the tissue of the affected area of the body. Each Radial Shockwave treatment works to increase the metabolic activity around the site of pain or discomfort, stimulating the reabsorption of irritative calcium deposits in tendons and to stimulate the body's natural healing process, thus reducing pain.
RST typically requires four to five treatments, one week apart for optimal results. Most patients feel significant improvement of symptoms after only the first treatment. The treatments can be slightly uncomfortable, but are well tolerated by everyone.
Not all shockwave machines are equal. At Athlos, we use the Swiss DolorClast method. Bench studies demonstrate that the DolorClast Radial Shock Waves deliver up to 200% more energy density than all competing devices. The more energy, the better the therapeutic outcomes.
